OIL PAINTING WORKSHOP: Still Life
Three Days: September 9-11, 2011

Location: The Amado Territory Art Workshop Center in Amado, Arizona

Description:

The great painter Sergei Bongart continuously told his students “if you can a paint still life, you can paint anything.”

This workshop will use still life to expound on the fundamentals of good painting: composition, techniques for accurate drawing, color mixing, value and color temperature.
The day will begin with examples and demos. Individual attention will be given to each participant regarding his or her progress.

I have painted many subjects, but still life continues to bring a passion and excitement to me I have not found anywhere else.

"Once in a great while, if we are very lucky, we come across a teacher who stands out from the crowd. Brenda is such a person. She is not only a gifted artist but she is also a gentle critic, a patient teacher and a lovely person. Though I have only known her for a short time, she has provided me insight into both ways of better "seeing" as well as hands on techniques for improving my art work. I would highly recommend her to anyone from the most basic beginner to more advanced students who are serious about improving their drawing and painting skills."--James Haines

"What wonderful classes! I took both the Drawing I and Drawing II classes and learned so much! I graduated from stick figures and negative self talk, thinking I had no talent, to learning about perspective and values and being pleasantly surprised and proud of the results of my efforts! Brenda is a very patient and encouraging teacher! If you want to learn the basics of drawing in a very supportive environment, her class is the place!"
----Linda T.

"I started Brenda's Pencil Drawing class without any previous drawing experience. I had fun and learned a great deal. I went on to take the next class Charcoal drawing. I really enjoyed using Charcoal and had certainly improved from my first pencil class.
Brenda is fun to be with and very patient and helps so much in developing skills. I'll go back again and learn more from Brenda." ----Bev
